About UPPSC :
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (उत्तर प्रदेश लोक सेवा आयोग) is the state agency authorized to conduct the Civil Services Examination for entry-level appointments to the various Civil Services of Uttar Pradesh. UPPSC Conducts Many Exams like, Assistant Forest Conservator(ACF)/Forest range officer(FRO)Examinations, R.O/A.R.O Preliminary Examination (Only for the Commission), R.O/A.R.O Main Examination(Only for the Commission), Assistant Registrar Examination, Combined State Engineering Examination, U.P. Judicial Services (Junior Division) Examination, Assistant Prosecuting Officers Examination, Combined State/Lower Subordinate Examination etc.
Under the Government of India Act, 1935, for the first time, provision was made for the formation of Public Service Commissions at the provincial level. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission was constituted on 1 April 1937 with its headquarters at Allahabad. The working of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission is also regulated by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulation, 1976.
About the UPPSC PCS Exam :
The competitive examination for the Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (General Recruitment / Special Recruitment) Examination, 2021 and Assistant Conservator of Forest / Range Forest Officer Services Examination, 2021 comprise three successive stages viz:-
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type & Multiple choices ).
- Main Examination (Conventional Type, i.e. Written examination).
- 3- Viva-Voce (Personality Test).
The Preliminary examination for the UPPSC PCS Examination will consist of two compulsory papers of which answer sheet be on OMR sheets. The papers shall be 200 marks each and of two hours’ duration. Both the papers shall be objective Type & multiple choice in which there shall be 150-100 questions Respectively. The timing of the paper will be from 9.30 to 11.30 A.M. and paper II from 2.30 to 4.30 P.M.
If we talk about the Main Examination, the Main Written examination will consist of the following compulsory and optional subjects The candidates have to select any one subject from the list of optional subjects for main examination whichwill consist of two papers.

UPPSC Exam Pattern Of PCS 2023
Exam Pattern for the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) written Exam is as Follows:-
Pre Exam Pattern :
- The Written Test will be a multiple choice objective type.
- The Preliminary examination will consist of two compulsory papers.
- The papers shall be of 200 marks each and of two hours duration.
- Both the papers shall be objective Type & multiple choice in which there shall be 150-100 questions Respectively.
Paper-II of the Preliminary Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
Mains Exam Pattern :
Written Exam will be Subjective (Conventional) as well as objective Type.

UPPSC PCS Important Tips & Topics For Preliminary Examination
- PCS exams are the state exams one should be well aware of the history and geography of the particular state.
- PCS is a civil service exam the candidates should be ready for a high difficulty level and mentally prepared for putting in a good amount of hard work.

Current events of national and international importance:- On Current Events of National and International importance, candidates will be expected to have knowledge about them.
History of India and Indian National Movement:- In History emphasis should be on broad understanding social, economic and political aspects of Indian history. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have a synoptic view of nature and character of the freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence.
Indian and World Geography:- Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World:- In World Geography only general understanding of the subject will be expected. Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.
Indian Polity and Governance:- Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc:- In Indian Polity, Economic and Culture, questions will test knowledge of country’s political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development, broad features of Economic policy in India and Indian Culture.
Economic and Social Development:- Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc:- The candidates will be tested with respect to problems and the relationship between Population, Environment, and Urbanization. General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization. General awareness of the subject is expected from candidates.
General Science:- Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science including matters of everyday observation and experience, as may be expected of a well-educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
Note:- Candidate is expected to have general awareness about the above subjects with special reference to Uttar Pradesh.
Elementary Mathematics (Up to Class X Level) Important Topics
Questions on Numerical & Mental Ability will be simple, of a level that an average Intermediate will be in a position to answer comfortably.
- In this Section, the Question Will be Related to the Numerical & Mental Ability Test from 12th Standard.

The part relating to the role and impact of science and technology in the development of India, questions will be asked to test the candidates’ awareness in this field Emphasis will be on the applied aspects. The part relating to statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams will include exercise to test the candidate’s ability to draw common-sense conclusions from information presented in statistical graphical or diagrammatical form and to point out deficiencies limitation or inconsistencies therein.
Essay Important Topics:- There will be three sections in the question paper of Essay. Candidates will have to select one topic from each section and they are required to write essay in 700 words on each topic. In the three sections, topics of essay will be based on the following sphere :
